Nannette Regua and Arturo Villarreal are both educators at Evergreen Valley College in San José, California. Mexicans in San José is a cultural history book that illustrates through its photographs the rich history of Mexicans and Mexican Americans in San José from 1777 to 1999. Significantly, of more than 5,000 publications of the Images of America series by Arcadia Publishing, only 4 other books are about Mexicans. This book is truly a pioneering project as it helps fill a void in the national awareness of the experiences and contributions of people of Mexican ancestry in the United States.
